Development - Matchbox

Development

Using the pen tool i traced my drawings and developed the type on illustrator.

I didn't like my heat design so i redesigned the type.

I started to put the the design together on photoshop adding in a few watercolours and leaf overlays to add a little colour and creativity to the designs.

Final Designs

Here are my final outcomes.

For the back of the matchbox i took my arabic patterns and lived traced them using a variety of the different live trace options.

Next like my front design i took the patterns onto photoshop and played around with my watercolour overlays.

Final Designs

Final outcomes.

Matchbox template

I placed both designs onto the matchbox template.

The only legal requirement for the matchboxes was to have the words safest matches placed somewhere on the designs. I then quickly choses this simple serif typeface and started to develop and adjust the type a little, to make the text more clear to read.

I decided to place them onto the side of the boxes.

Sketches - Matchbox

Mood board

For the front of the box i wanted to play around with arabic type.

And for the back of the matchbox to keep with the arabic theme i thought about focusing on arabic patterns.

Sketches

Front

Translated the words match, heat, flame and fire to arabic.

Started drawing out a few sketches for the arabic words.
